George Gershwin most assuredly had this incredible Czech necklace in mind when he wrote "Rhapsody in Blue." It is a fabulous piece of artwork from the Art Deco era, featuring fine details and craftmanship. The necklace features hand facted unfoiled blue glass rectangular links and oval pieces which form the center pendant. The hidden prong settings of the links create the illusion that the blue glass pieces "float" around the neck. The large pendant was created with a bezel set oval center piece surrounded by smaller prong set oval pieces. The back of the necklace features the same painstaking attention to detail as the front. The findings are crafted from sterling and the link settings have a lovely stamped design. The findings have a light patina, which does not detract from the function or beauty of the necklace, but is noted for accuracy. The glass is in nearly pristine condition. There are no flea bites visible to the naked eye, and I found only one under a loupe. The necklace measures approx. 16" in wearable length. The pendant measures approx. 1 3/4" wide by 1 1/2" tall, and each glass link measures approx. 9/16" long by 7/16" wide. The necklace is signed Czecho on the clasp ring. The spring ring clasp is in fine working order, and this exceptionally beautiful necklace is in overall Near Mint condition.
