This dramatic ring depicts a kachina god. Tiny pieces of mother of pearl, onyx, and coral have been carefully inlaid into silver frames to create the headress and face. The front of the ring measures approx. 1 1/2" wide by 1 3/8" tall, and it is a U.S. size 6. The inlay is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks noted. I have not tested the silver, but I will guarantee it to be .800 or better. The ring is unsigned, but it came to me in a lifetime collection of Native American jewelry (see provenance below), and is of similar quality as the signed pieces. There is some minor surface wear and a patina of tarnish, which does not detract from the function or beauty of the ring but is noted for accuracy. Overall, this dramatic ring is in Excellent condition.
Provenance:
I purchased this item at an estate auction in Quincy, IL. The previous owner and her husband often took trips to the American Southwest and Mexico, where they would by jewelry as gifts for each other and themselves. They took utmost care in storing their huge collection of sterling jewelry, and kept it in lidded, plastic boxes.
