Root Beer & Apple Juice Bakelite Grapes Brooch Fur Clip
This vintage bakelite fur clip is perfect for the vineyard diva or vino connoisseur. It is crafted of apple juice and root beer bakelite balls which have been drilled to allow a jump ring to be attached. The rings are then attached to layers of brass chain for a cluster look. The brooch backing is a thin layer of yellowed plastic. I tested several of the balls with Simichrome on a cotton swab and got dark gold positive results. However, because of the chain and the unknown material in the backing, I did not perform a hot water test on this brooch. That said, I have sold may pieces of bakelite and guarantee this brooch to be genuine vintage bakelite. The brooch measures approx. 3 1/8" long by 2" wide by 1 1/8" thick. The brass chain has mellowed to a warm patina and most of the plating has worn from the metal clip. The two prong fur mechanism is tight and in fine working order. Overall this highly collectable brooch is in Excellent condition.
