What do the condition ratings in the descriptions mean? TOP
Mint - Reserved for flawless, unused items still in original box/packaging. Near Mint - Very minor flaws only seen with magnification, or missing original tag/packaging. Excellent - Minor flaws only seen on close inspection. Very Good - Minor flaws consistent with gentle use. Good - Flaws consistent with normal use, which do not interfere with the function or beauty of an item. Fair - Noticeable flaws. Typically not offered for sale, unless highly desirable, rare or unusual.
Where do you find all this cool stuff and how can you possibly part with it? TOP
I enjoy visiting estate auctions and flea markets, and I'm glad to offer my wonderful finds to you. My interest obviously leans toward vintage jewelry and handbags. However, if something unusual catches my eye, you never know what I might come up with! I only collect things that are fashionable and in superb condition that I am willing to use myself. And, I am happy to offer my collection to you! Whenever someone buys from my collection, I know we share the same great taste. ;-)
What about fakes and reproductions? TOP
I spend a great deal of time researching my collection to avoid reproductions and fakes. It is of the utmost importance that I maintain my reputation as a seller with high standards of accuracy and integrity.
How long have you been in business and do you have any references? TOP
Internet commerce can be a little tricky at times, so it's good to know the professional qualifications of the person you are dealing with. I've been a seller on ebay for over 5 years - originally as sunnydaycollectibles and recently as sunny*day*vintage. I've completed over 1,000 transactions with 100% Positive Feedback (little hurray)! Do you buy collections? TOP
Sure! :-) I'm always happy to buy one special piece or an entire collection. If you live in the St. Louis, Missouri area and want to discuss your collection, use the Contact Me link at the top of the page.
Do you do appraisals? TOP
I am happy to do appraisals on vintage costume jewelry. I typically charge $10 - $25 per item (depending on the value, rarity, information available, etc.), with a multiple item discount for larger collections. I'll need clear photographs of the front and back of the jewelry. Payment may be made in advance through credit card, Paypal or money order. If you choose to sell a portion of your collection to me, then the appraisal fee can be negotiated toward the purchase price. I'm flexible, so use the Contact Me link at the top of the page and we'll discuss it. :-)
Who/What is Sunny Day Vintage? TOP
There really is a "Sunny." My 17 year old daughter, Sunny, is the inspiration for Sunny Day Vintage and is an established collector in her own right. I "retired" from my former career at the age of 33 to help my husband run our businesses and raise our children. Now, our son, Nicholas, has grown into a young man of 22 years. Sunny excels in high school and all of her activities. Our furbabies, Olivia (the juicy white cat depicted on the website) and Tigger are cats, and never have needed my attention. And, our businesses are up and running. So, I now have the luxury of pursuing my long time passion for collecting.
I have been collecting various items for years. I purchased my first piece of vintage jewelry at 16 years old. It was a crocheted button bracelet - big, colorful and fun - apparently, my taste hasn't really changed.
